Swing's The Thing
Meet The Trumpet Section
||Dale Nawrocki (Trumpet, Flugelhorn)|
Dale, proud father of Joseph and Alex, is the Musical Director of Swings The Thing Big Band.
He comes to us by way
of Cleveland, Reynoldsburg, Sugar Grove, Lancaster, Logan and now Grove City!
He's a music teacher in the South Western City Schools by day and enjoys being
a freelance orchestral, Big Band and wedding trumpet player in the central
Ohio area by night.
The Ohio State University Symphony, Concert Band, Marching Band and Jazz Lab
Ensembles were his college groups and he followed that up by performing with
the Columbus Symphony Orchestra on a few occasions. Additionally, Dale is on
staff at St. Patricks Catholic Church and has performed with such groups as the
Central Ohio Symphony, Rick Brunetto Big Band, Dwight Lenox Combo, the Famous
Jazz Orchestra of Vaughn Wiester, Perpetual Brass Quintet, Jim Johnson
Orchestra, Clintonville Community Band, Grove City Community Winds, Columbus Gay
Men's Chorus Orchestra and various other central Ohio ensembles.
If you have need of any musicians, Feel free to contact Dale at:
||Wayne Cummings (Trumpet, Flugelhorn)|
Wayne is one of the remaining founding members,
having successfully run off most the others.
Wayne plays 2nd trumpet in the band when not working on his power plays.
He can be found playing his trumpet in the Reynoldsburg Community Band, the Reynoldsburg Brass Quintet,
Columbus Gay Men's Chorus Orchestra,
and at Holy Spirit Church.
Wayne likes to be known for his "Hip and Edgy" solos....
Please don't offer Wayne Cheese, he has a deep adversion and may become unstable...
||Rich Hart (Trumpet, Flugelhorn)|
In addition to performing with Swing The Thing, Rich is a member of the Grove City Community Winds.
Since graduating from Ohio State University in 1977 he's played many styles of music while performing
with The Jim Johnson Orchestra and many other "combos". Several great teachers including Dave Wheeler,
Ray Eubanks, Tom Battenburg and Claudio Roditi have influenced his style of playing.
However, Rich sites the Grove City music program where he attended high school and the exposure to the
music teachers and dedicated students there as his greatest influence. When not performing music he
can be found teaching yoga and running his printing business.
Feel free to contact Rich at:
